- The Tale of Genji turned 1000 this year. “The tale describes everything about life, such as what a human being is and what love is,” said Jakucho Setouchi, a translator of the novel into modern Japanese. Anime based on manga inspired by the classic Japanese novel will air in January 2009 on Fuji TV.
